Our Story

Carmel Logos Baptist Church

Carmel Logos Baptist Church (previously Toronto Northwest Chinese Logos Baptist Church) started in 1987 as a church-planting mission by Logos Baptist Church. In 1990, we became independent from the mother church. In 1999, we were registered as an incorporated charitable organization, and was renamed Carmel Logos Baptist Church, expressing our desire to bear witness to the one true God in a fallen world.

In our early days, we gathered in Northview Heights Secondary School for worship, and our congregation was made up of mainly students. We were blessed with our first property in the Finch and Jane area in Toronto, which served as a base to campus outreach at York University. The Lord also richly blessed our campus work with conversions in several high schools in the North York area. In 1991, we planted a mission in Scarborough (Calvary Logos Baptist Church), to serve a new wave of Chinese immigrants.

In 1994, the Lord was gracious to provide us with our current location. Our first worship was held here on Sunday December 25, 1994. The space we have has enabled us to start and continue with different ministries.

Our growth was not without challenges, but God has been good to us. He has taught us many lessons in obedience, faith and humility. It is our prayer that, by God’s grace, we may grow to become a people after God’s heart.
