Our Belief

1. The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is God's revelations to man. It was verbally and plenarily inspired and is the product of Spirit-controlled men, inerrant and infallible as originally written. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2. The Triune God

We believe there is one and only one living and true God, who is Spirit, infinite in being and in all perfections, Creator, Preserver and Governor of all things, existing eternally in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who governs all things according to the purpose of His will. To Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience. All three Persons share the same nature, attributes, and perfections, but each execute distinct, but harmonious, operations in the work of creation and redemption.

3. Jesus Christ

We believe that there is only one Saviour, Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God and who in His incarnation united to His divine nature a true human nature, and so continues to be the only God-man. Conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, He took upon Himself our nature, yet without sin, He perfectly fulfilled the law of God; and that by the shedding of blood on the cross, He died in the sinner's place, bearing the penalty of God’s law, the Just dying for the unjust, bearing our sins in His own body. He was buried and rose again bodily on the third day for our justification. He ascended to the Father's right hand and shall return to judge the living and the dead. He is the only Mediator between God and man, our Prophet, Priest and King, and Sovereign of the Universe.

4. Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Triune God. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination, He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, effects regeneration and dwells in every believer. He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows believers with spiritual gifts to edify His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, service and evangelism.

5. Man

We believe that Man was originally created in God's own image, and free from sin; but, through the temptation of Satan, he transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original holiness and righteousness; whereby his posterity inherit a nature corrupt and wholly opposed to God and His law. All human beings are sinners not by constraint but of choice and are under God’s condemnation. Therefore, all human beings in their natural state are utterly incapable to receive the things of the Spirit of God apart from the quickening grace of the Holy Spirit.

6. Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. The atoning death of Christ at the cross was substitutionary in nature, removing the sins of those who trust in Christ for salvation and turning aside the wrath of God against them. Repentance is a change of mind and purpose towards God prompted by the Holy Spirit at the moment of regeneration and is an integral part of saving faith. True believers continue to experience growth in grace throughout their lives and are kept by the power of God through faith unto eternal life.

7. Church

We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ comprises all His true believers, who are called out from the world, separated unto the Lord Jesus. The members of the one spiritual Body are directed to associate themselves together in local assemblies under the Lordship of Christ, the Head and Savior of the church. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by building itself up in the faith, by instruction of the Word, by fellowship, by observing the two ordinances of Baptism and Breaking of Bread and by advancing and communicating the gospel to the entire world. We believe the church should be autonomous and separated from the state. We treasure the fellowship in the Lord with like-minded believers or churches. We believe that its officers are elders and deacons.

8. Things to Come

We believe in the imminent, personal, bodily, visible, and glorious return of Christ to take His people to be with Him and to judge and rule the earth in righteousness. We believe in the resurrection of the body for both believers and unbelievers. We believe that believers go to be with Christ in conscious blessedness immediately after death, having escaped the condemnation of their sins through the death of Christ. They will, however, stand before God to receive rewards for works approved by God or to suffer loss of rewards for works disapproved. Believers will live eternally in the immediate presence of God, while unbelievers must face the eternal and holy Judge, who will sentence them for their sins. They will consciously suffer eternal punishment in hell, away from the presence of God.
